  • Forum Thread: What time should I put my 4 1/2 month old to sleep?

I've been trying to figure out what time is best to put my 4 1/2 old to bed. Most of the time, I start his bedtime routine (bath, book, feed) around 7:45-8:00 p.m. and he's usually in bed by 9:00 p.m. at the latest. However, I noticed he usually seems to want to take a nap around 6:00 - 7:00...
  • Forum Thread: Sleep patterns

Hi all, I need to know how to get my 3 month old daughter to nap during the day in her bassinet or crib. She will nap in our arms for 2 hour nap twice a day if we hold her, but when we put her down she wakes up in a few minutes or right away. At night though she falls asleep in our arms around 9pm...
  • Forum Thread: Sleeping Issues

Ok so this our newest problem. My daughter who is 11 1/2 weeks old is sleeping through the night for the most part but she moves all over the place in her crib. She is now inching her way from the bottom of the crib all the way to the top and her head is right up against the posts of the crib and i think...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Sleeping at Night

I know how important sleep is, believe me. As far as when to put him to sleep is really up to you. I am a school teacher therefore, i need to start trying to put him down by 9:30 PM so that I may get at least 6 hours. My son is 10 wks old now and was giving me a hard time also. But now before putting...
  • Forum Reply: Re: HELP! 4 month old won't sleep!!

Try taking him to the doctor. When this type of behavior happened with my kids, I found that there was usually an underlying issue, like gas pain or ear pain. They're too little to really tell you where it hurts so at this point, it's really a guessing game. It could also be that he's...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Help! 10 week old refuses to sleep alone

How about the stroller or the car seat? Until she was a year, my little one would not nap at daycare without being in a stroller. At home, she needed to be rocked to sleep once she was about 10 weeks or so. By this age, they really start to realize that you go away and they don't have the concept...
  • Forum Reply: Re: My 2 week old is awake a lot during the day and only sleeps 3 or 4 hours at night!

It is getting better now thankfully. He is eating about anywhere from 4-6 oz at a feeding every 3 hours now. He is sleeping about a 6-8 hour stretch at night now. He will be 2 months old on Saturday. My only concern at this point is his naps during the day, some days he hardly naps and most of the time...
  • Forum Thread: A Dad's views on Baby Sleep and CIO (Crying it out)

After reading several blogs, books, and articles on the subject, I understand that letting your baby cry himself to sleep (after 6 months of age) is perfectly fine. It won't have long-term psychological effects on him and most doctors agree. But, I can't convince my wife to try it. So with our...
  • Forum Thread: Late night pacifier detail

My 12 week old son has not been sleeping well at night for the past week. He had been doing well for awhile, sleeping 3-5 hours at a time--no longer the case. He usually gets up 1 or 2 times to feed and diaper change, but mostly gets up almost every hour fussing and thrashing about because he has spit...
  • Forum Thread: My 2 week old is awake a lot during the day and only sleeps 3 or 4 hours at night!

I am a mom of a 6 year old daughter and a 2 week old son. I remember that my daughter would sleep really well both during the night and day as a newborn. My son on the other hand will not go to sleep unless you hold him and generally will not stay asleep if you try to put him down during the day and...
  • Forum Thread: Sleeping through the night???

When we first brought my son home, we were amazed to find out that by 9 weeks old, he was already sleeping 12 hours at night. However, it is not always this easy. When my third child was born, he didn't sleep for 12 hours at night until he was almost 10 months old! Mothers often get the wrong idea...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Transition into a crib!

Thanks for the advice. He is still too little for cereal. I have tried putting him in it while he was awake today and he did ok for a little while. I tried putting him in there for a nap but when I was closing the door. The door squeaked and he woke up 5 minutes later. Well I will have to figure out...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Transition into a crib!

I can't tell you I've had success with transitioning our daughter, but I can tell you we started much later than 5 weeks. I whole-heartedly support starting now, it will be muuuch easier if you can transition your son to the crib... even if he comes back out temporarily for teething or other...
  • Forum Thread: Erratic sleeping/feeding patterns

My daughter is 6 weeks old, and she seems to want to eat about every 2.5 - 3 hours. But at night, the pattern seems to be erratic. She was sleeping pretty well through the night, staying asleep for a good 3-5 hours before waking up to be fed. Lately though, she is waking up every 2 hours. We are currently...
  • Forum Thread: Transition into a crib!

My son is now 5 weeks old. As with previous posts we could only get him to sleep in his carseat and he won't nap much during the day. This past Friday I took him to his one month checkup with the pediatrician and he now weighs 11 lbs and is 22 inches long. He was 8 lbs 4 oz at birth and 20 and 1...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Not getting any sleep at night--How do you cope?

My fiance was really good at reminding me that it is just a phase. Repeating this to myself in moments that seem unbearable really helped (and still does!) and helps me enjoy the precious moments even more.
  • Forum Reply: Re: A Dad's views on Baby Sleep and CIO (Crying it out)

Ugh! Getting your baby to sleep through the night is always an issue it seems, and CIO is usually at the heart of the debate. When it came to my kids, I tried CIO and it did not work, mostly because they are so strong willed. My youngest didn't start sleeping through the night until she was about...
  • Forum Reply: Re: Transition into a crib!

BabyNurse- Thanks for the advice. We took him to the pediatrician because he was extremely congested and wasn't eating very well. With some of the other issues going on the pediatrician believes that my son has reflux and we now have him on zantac and Flonase for when he gets really congested. We...
  • Forum Thread: Help! 10 week old sleep problems

My 10 week old daughter has a terrible time going to sleep if she's not swaddled or being held. She's been like this since day 1. I have a few more weeks to hopefully get this sleeping thing down before I return to work. We used to have to sneak her into her crib after she was in a deep sleep...
  • Forum Reply: Re: WHEN SHOULD I STOP SWADDLING

Most babies are ready by 3-4 months of age to be weaned of the swaddle. There is always the exception to this, which your son may be. Most of the time you can slowly wean form the swaddle by just swaddling with one arm out. Since your baby is an older baby and probably more active there is an inceased...

  • Forum Reply: Re: Sleeping After Children

Sleep? What's that? I am SOOOO not a morning person and was really relishing having an older child who could get up, get dressed and make her own breakfast when I found out I was pregnant. I don't think I've gotten a decent night's sleep in nearly three years now!
  • Forum Thread: 20 week old daughter wakes up crying

Hi, I am a first time mom and have a 20 week old daughter. For last few weeks, my daughter is waking up crying from a nap. Sometimes she is quite when I pick her up and then there are other times when she keeps on crying. Last night and today morning, she woke up crying and wouldn't calm down...
  • Forum Thread: Not getting any sleep at night--How do you cope?

Night time is rough for all new moms who have an infant. Most infants wake up every 2-3 hours to feed and many of them struggle with falling back to sleep. As a result, most moms don’t get much sleep at night. How do you cope with those first sleepless months? Were there any tricks you tried...
