I have read in other suggestions that you can offer your baby 1-2 ounces of prune or apple juice in thier formula to help constipation. At what age is this ok? For example, my baby is 14th weeks old...so a little over 3 months.
Fruit juice can be give as early as 1 month of age (if treating constipation) with your pediatrician's approval. Generally, just a couple ounces of baby apple juice 1-2 times a day will do the trick. Again, please check with your pediatrician first as each one has his/her own preferences.
Prune juice worked well with my little one, who still has issues with constipation at 2. What I found, though, is that it took trial and error to figure out what worked best for her tummy. Too much gave her painful gas; too little didn't help the problem. So we took our doctor's recommendation and adjucted from there.
Try pear juice.
We just went threw this with our 3 week old and I called the doc to find out what to do. She said try a well lubricated rectal thermometer long enough to get the temp, one oz of apple juice to one oz of water or a nice warm bath. We did in just that order and it worked!!! She went all over the tub but hey no more constipation!! Good luck.
I've tried rectal thermometer,Also tried warm bath to no avail.Waiting to hear what my doctors says. I also have a 3week old son.
