Question about baby constipation

  • I have read in other suggestions that you can offer your baby 1-2 ounces of prune or apple juice in thier formula to help constipation.  At what age is this ok?  For example, my baby is 14th weeks a little over 3 months.

  • Fruit juice can be give as early as 1 month of age (if treating constipation) with your pediatrician's approval. Generally, just a couple ounces of baby apple juice 1-2 times a day will do the trick. Again, please check with your pediatrician first as each one has his/her own preferences.Smile

  • Prune juice worked well with my little one, who still has issues with constipation at 2. What I found, though, is that it took trial and error to figure out what worked best for her tummy. Too much gave her painful gas; too little didn't help the problem. So we took our doctor's recommendation and adjucted from there.

  • Try pear juice.

  • We just went threw this with our 3 week old and I called the doc to find out what to do. She said try a well lubricated rectal thermometer long enough to get the temp, one oz of apple juice to one oz of water or a nice warm bath. We did in just that order and it worked!!! She went all over the tub but hey no more constipation!! Good luck.

  • I've tried rectal thermometer,Also tried warm bath to no avail.Waiting to  hear what my doctors says. I also have a 3week old son.
