Ultrasound

  • So had my U/S yesterday.  There is in fact a little bean in there, and "he's" so cute!  LOL.  I'm only 8 weeks, so of course there wasn't much to see, but there's a baby in there, that's all I care about at this point.  But the Dr said that everything looks good, except for the fact that the RN made my cervix bleed during the ghonnorhea (i know that's wrong) and whatever else it is tests.  That's fun.  LOL.

  • YAY!!!!!!!!! Isn't it exciting... my very first ultrasound looked like a chicken fetus.... it was bizarre, but I've had plenty more where I have perfect faces looking at me.... and lots of little peter shots.... even though my desire for a girl has gotten me through almost 3 pregnancies I love my boys to death!

Sorry to hear you bled, I spotted for a few tests myself, its the scrapping of the cells that they need.  Good luck with everything!

  • Congrats on your first baby pics! Make sure you keep them for your baby book.

Ugh! Those tests are yucky! But not so much worse than your annual pap, which you'll have to get at your 8-week post-birth check-up, too.

It's funny you called your baby a "little bean." I was seeing a reproductive endocrinologist when I got pregnany -- not to get pregnant or do fertility treatments, but to treat my polycyctic ovarian syndrome. When I went in to confirm I was pregnant, they gave me an unexpected vaginal ultrasound (fun, fun) and there was this little jelly bean. After I came home with the pictures and my husband ended up calling our baby "The Jellybean" throughout the pregnancy.

  • Congrats! I'm so glad everything is okay. So when does that make you due?

  • Congrats!  You're lucky that you get to have an ultrasound so early...I'm 17 weeks and have to wait until Feb 5 to get my only one.  My doctor made me bleed when I got my pap test also.  They said nothing to worry about, but it still sucks.

  • HI, FIRST DOCTOR VISIT IS IN 2 WEEKS. I HAVE ONE OTHER CHILD, HE IS ELEVEN. ANY ADVICE IN MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM ONLY CHILD TO BIG BROTHER

  • Congratulations woohooimknockedup! When is your next ultrasound? Are you thinking about doing the 4D ultrasound later on? We did that with our daughter, it was really cool seeing her like that in 3D, and they were actually the first ones to be able to call the sex! (She kept hiding every time we went to the normal ultrasounds).

Saraholand, as an older child he should be better prepared to handle the transition. A lot of younger children have attachment issues, which he may have as well with the addition of a new child. I have heard of "big brother" classes that help prepare older siblings, if you ask your doctor or the local hospital they should know if any are available in your area. My thoughts would be just to help him understand that he is not becoming less important to you in any way and to create/offer ways for him to participate in the pregnancy so that he can feel involved and begin developing a bond with your second child early on.
