My son is almost 4 mos old and has recently gotten over RSV. Scary thing that! Prior to him getting sick he had been sleeping through the night. He would go down at 10:00 and wake up anywhere between 6:00 and 8:30 am. While he was sick he would wake up coughing, now that he is not sick his sleep pattern is all messed up and wakes up at random times. Any suggestions on getting him back to his "normal" pattern?
Good luck, you were lucky to have such a good sleeper so young! I was with my first but not my second. It's hard to say, it could just be a phase, he's still really young yet. He may slip back into his pattern in a few weeks. his body may not yet be used to being healthy again so its the residual of being sick. good luck though and let us know how it goes!
They usually recover on their own after an illness that disturbs sleep pattern. I hate it when that happens; you get them on a good schedule and then teething or sickness has to go and mess it all up.
Stick with the old routine and he should fall back into the synch of things soon. Whenever we take a long trip or have friends over late our daughter's sleep schedule is often disturbed, but by sticking with it each night after she falls right back into the step of things.
Thank you for all your replies. We did stick with the same routine and he is slowly getting back to the pattern he was on. But now he is wanting to drop his late afternoon nap and go to sleep earlier so we are starting a new sleep pattern altogether!
Losing a nap is never fun. How early is he going to bed now?
Now he is wanting to drop his late afternoon nap and go to sleep around 7:30 8:45 but now he is waking up at about 4 am. I don't know what to do. I stay consistent with the times I put him down but he doesn't want to go to sleep. He fights it which he has done since he was about 2 weeks old.
