I recently read a study that showed there is a significant decline in marital happiness around year 8 of marriage. This study also showed that people without children are less likely to experience this decline. Could it be that having children is bad for marriages? I certainly don’t think so. It is most likely that during the first several years of marriage we are so focused on work and raising children that we often neglect the most important thing- each other. A great marriage does not happen by accident. You have to communicate with your partner, spend time together, and…….have sex! Yes, I know we are all too tired to have sex, but you must make time to be intimate with your mate. Go ahead and put couple time ahead of everything else, because happy marriages make for happy families. How do you keep the romance alive?
WELL MY HUSBAND GETS HOME LATE SO WHEN HE DOES GET HOME I'LL HAVE ON SOMETHING SEXY.LITE CANDLES AND HAVE A BOTTLE OF BODY OIL TO RUB HIM DOWN AND MAYBE SOME WINE. HE LOVES THIS I'LL DO THIS TWICE A WEEK. AND HE LOVES IT.
My hubby volunteers at the local firehouse, his "duty night" is Sunday, which means he's there from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday morning. He goes straight to work from the firehouse. I hate sleeping alone, so to make things better for me, Sunday is our day together. We cuddle and play with the baby on the floor before he goes to the firehouse. Every Sunday, no exceptions. Then Monday night, we always have a late dinner after the baby is asleep and light candles (and so on). It's our little ritual and we both understand the necessity of it.
well, ok, i will admit this is a weard topic for me to talk about, well, we dont have a set ritual or anything but when he works the late shift at work he gets home at about 11 i usualy have the candles lit and some kind of snack that he likes, brownies, peanut butter cookes something along those lines, and something of his on like a t-shirt and his boxers or something, i will admit things have changed a lot sence the baby was born, in lots of ways. we had my mother-in-law living with us for a while so it made things very weard but she just moved out so hopefully things will go back to normal
You guys are doing great! I like that you do something as sort of a "ritual". That sounds so much better than "don't forget we have to have sex this Monday". Very creative too!
I've found that some couples have no problem with this, while others really struggle. This is something my husband and I really have to work at.
Without planning it, my husband and I got into the habit of having a Sunday afternoon romp while my older daughter was out with her father. Of course, this was before we had our own baby. Though those days are long passed, if I get the chance to go back to bed on Monday mornings after dropping the kids off, my hubby and I get some cuccle time in. He works late on Mondays, so he goes in late, and my schedule is constantly changing by the semester, so we try to get in as much of that as possible.
i will say to keep it alive, just anytime any place, just when you feel the moment is right, why have a rutine? i mean dont get me wrong i dont mean to do things in from of the kids, what i mean in the midle of the night kiss her/him wake him up, we all work hard one way or an other, i love when my girl was living with me, we will hide in the closet, be up at 3 am even when i had to be a work at 6am, i guess i can cach up with my sleep later on, but caching up with her is something that maybe will never happend. trust me.
