Is it a lot different this time around? I've never been in your shoes, but I know many women who have. How does Blake feel about having a baby brother?

I too am expecting again. We have 3 grown children, our youngest is 15 and I'm 5 months pregnant! After the shock wore off the entire family is so excited!! I have found that I'm paying closer attention to the growth and development of this child than I did with the other children. Mostly because of my age and the increased risk factors that are involved. We are so very excited and nervous at the same time because we know times have really changed since our children were young.

I too have a 11 year old and now a 5 month old.  My 11 year old is not only a very loving big brother but also very protective.  He is a lot help with his little brother but it can sometimes be overwhelming because he still requires a lot of attention as well.  I never expected to have another baby but he has truly been a blessing like no other and he has brought so much joy and love back in family.

That's wonderful! And I love the name Traven!

What types of challenges are you facing? My daughter was 8 when I had my second baby. I had pretty much forgotten everything about taking care of an infant -- both the wonderful and the challenging.

I'm 39 weeks pregnant with our second child due April 23rd and my son, turning 15 in May, is absolutely thrilled about having a little sister.  When he heard his little sister's heartbeat for the first time he was amazed and was completely fascinated when he saw her via ultrasound.

My baby is 3 mos. I have a 12 and 21 year old. It is wonderful. My girls got to see and will remember my pregnancy and all that goes with it. Nausea, hemorrhoids, preterm labor, bedrest, premature delivery at 34 weeks (all fine thank God), recovery after c-section. When the nurses brought the baby into my room my 12 year old cried tears of joy. All she could do was look at her and cry. My oldest is on her own so she doesn't get too much time with baby. She gets nervous when Liza starts crying. My 12 year old even changes poopy diapers now but only with a mask. It is wonderful. When my 12 year old goes sleep somewhere and returns she says, "I know what you mean now mom, it's like she changed overnight." And she is thrilled with Liza recognizes her and smiles and starts kicking and swinging those arms. Thank you Lord for the blessing. We have alot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving 2009.

Both of my children are 24 yrs. and 22yrs, my 3rd son is 11mos. For me it was alot eaiser this time around. I actually enjoy being a mom more now than when i was 23.

I have a 16 year old, 7 year old and 3 month old.  All BOYS!  My 16 year old was originally afraid to hold the baby for fear he would break him. He's gotten better now, but doesn't have as much interest as the 7 year old does.  The challenge we have with him is that he is constantly up in the baby's face.  He wants to help which is great, but there's also the issue of him not wanting to leave him alone.  It's definitely a new set of challenges, but congrats and enjoy every minute!

My sister has a 16 year-old, a 13 year-old, and a 2 year-old. She waited because she wasn't sure if she wanted a third child, but the two oldest are boys and she wanted to try for her little girl and she got one! She couldn't be happier and the older boys are little helpers and babysitters whenever the need may arise. They are a huge help and they love their little sister to bits!

I'm in the same situation.  I absolutely LOVE that I had another one at this point in my life.  I have a 16-year old daughter (Kailyn), a 9-year old step-daughter that we have custody of (Stephanie) and I have a beautiful baby girl (Madison) who is now 5 months old.  I agree that it does have new challenges, but I've found that my patience is greater now at 38 than it was at 21.  It's strange though asking my oldest to go get diapers or formula.  That doesn't happen too often - she's afraid they'll think it's for her own baby.  Gotta love kids!!  Good luck & best wishes to you!  Enjoy your family!
