Our baby Girl was born with one and just got her plate put in to help pull her palate forward. She will be 5 months old on the 11th and can just now start eating cereal and jar food by spoon. But she really don't know what to do with it when i put it in her mouth?? Any Suggestions on how to help her along with this?? Thanks!!
I think with something like this, as with any new skill for a baby, you just need to keep at it. Keep introducing it and let her tongue and mouth explore the sensation. She'll eventually figure it out and do what's natural.
This is common even for babies without a cleft lip or palate. Like writemommy said, just keep trying and she should get the hang of it.
