There are some really great products out there to help get your child interested in potty training. We even bought a baby doll that drinks a bottle and "pees" in the potty. Then we encouraged our daughter to "be the mommy" and teach her baby how to use the potty like a big girl. By teaching her doll, she had to learn what to do. We got excited for her baby doll and soon...she was going potty all by herself as well!!!

Re: Potty training

Thanks so much... we are looking into getting all of the above!

Re: Potty training

Yes..."Potty Power" was pretty good and got my son and daughter motivated. Most parents just wake up one morning and decide that they have had it with diapers. As a result, the next few weeks are frustrating for everyone.

I started by renting a few Potty videos and potty books. Every day we watched the fun videos and read the books at night. We even "practiced" teaching our baby doll how to be a big kid. Then after a week or two, I told them that we were going to be a big kid on Monday. We picked out underwear and first thing Monday morning, we woke up and celebrated being a big kid. This got them excited about using the potty which made the process a whole lot easier. While there were still accidents, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Re: Potty training

We are beginning the potty training process and all the advice here is a great help! To motivate your child, fill up a jar in the bathroom filled with stickers. Everytime your child goes pee-pee in the potty and wipes herself, she gets one sticker. When she poops in the potty and wipes herself (the best she can), she gets two stickers. At the end of each week, if she collects a set number of stickers, give a reward of your choice. Create a colorful poster in the bathroom with the number of stickers collected so she can view her progress. This will motivate her and make potty training fun!

Re: Potty training

My daughter is 4 and does the same thing.
