We just moved into a house with stairs after having lived in a one story house for my son's first two years of life. He is a pretty careful kid but I'm constantly worried that he will pitch down the stairs and hurt himself. He is not terribly good at navigating them yet, since he has never had to deal with them on a regular basis other than the playground or church. Any advice to help us transition? --Julie, Strongmoms Facilitator
Baby gates are wonderful ways to keep your little one corralled until you are ready for him to go down the stairs. I also taught my 2 year old to go down on his but...or on his belly. This way I knew he wouldn't hurt himself...sort of like you teach them to go down a slide first! Good luck
